Two Oakley Meta Models, Two Different Purposes

Oakley and Meta have released two smart glasses lines, and customers often assume they're the same product in different frames. They're not. The Oakley Meta HSTN is the everyday pair — lightweight, fits under a cap, and priced from Rs. 41,800.

The Oakley Meta Vanguard is built for training: IP67 rated, tested for sweat and rain, and priced from Rs. 52,300. Which one to recommend depends entirely on what the customer plans to do while wearing them.

Camera and Audio on Both Models

Both frames pack a 12MP camera shooting up to 3K video through a 122-degree wide lens, with slow motion and hyperlapse built in.

The Vanguard's open-ear speakers run about six decibels louder than the HSTN's, which matters if you're recording audio near traffic or wind. A five-microphone array on both models is tuned to cut wind noise during calls, a detail Oakley clearly built with outdoor use in mind rather than office wear.

Battery Life and Build Differences

HSTN runs about 8 hours per charge with 19 hours standby, and its case adds another 48 hours. Vanguard trades a bit of runtime for ruggedness — around 9 hours of general use and 6 hours of continuous audio.

Vanguard also adds a Three-Point Fit system with three interchangeable nose pads, so it stays put during a run or a ride. HSTN carries an IPX4 rating; Vanguard steps up to IP67, the difference between "splash resistant" and "survives a proper downpour."

Prizm Lenses and India-Specific Features

Lens choice matters more with Oakley Meta glasses than most sunglasses, because Prizm lens tints are tuned for specific activities — Prizm Road for cycling, Prizm Deep Water for fishing, and Prizm 24K for bright daylight.

Both models also carry the two features Indian buyers ask about first: Hindi voice commands for calls and media, and UPI Lite payments through a linked WhatsApp bank account, activated by saying "Hey Meta, scan and pay" at a QR code.
